Xavier’s Admission Test (XAT) is an entrance examination conducted by Xavier Association Management Institute (XAMI) for all graduates to take admission in the top management colleges in India for their post graduation. It is all India level examination and students participated in exam form all over India and XAT has its exam centres throughout India.
XAT Exam Pattern
It has multiple choice question paper with four alternative choices and the most prestigious college in which students want to take admission through XAT is XLRI Jamshedpur. XLRI is the most prestigious institute in India among all other top most institutes in India. It always has its position in top 5 most prestigious colleges in India and beats many IIM’s.
The exam will be conducted in two sections as:
- Part A
- Part B
In XAT Exam you have 3 hrs to do your paper in which 2 hrs 20 minutes is for PART A (Quantitative Ability, English Language Ability, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Decision Making)
And the remaining 40 minutes is for part B (English Essay Writing and General Awareness).
XAT Exam Eligibility
You are eligible if either you are graduates or pursuing your graduation but if you are pursuing then your must be declared before the final step of your admission to any college and for full details of eligibility you can go to its official website.
XAT Exam Syllabus
Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning:
This section has 30 questions in XAT 2014 but you should check in its official website also because sometimes XAT changes its pattern. The other questions in the English section are from:
- Grammar – Articles, propositions, Tenses, Pronouns, verb etc.
- Verbal Reasoning
- Jumbled sentences and paragraph
The other questions are also from the topic Critical Reasoning. In this, most probably one question was based on ‘inductive and deductive logic’.
Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation Syllabus
This section has 36 questions in XAT 2014 but it may vary this time. From these 36 questions 24 questions were based on Quantitative Ability and 12 questions were based on DI (Data Interpretation) section. The main topics for this section are given below:
- Charts and diagrams
- Time and Distance
- Number Systems
General Awareness Syllabus
This section introduced last year itself in XAT and are important to get good percentile in XAT 2014. It is formed one of the two sections in paper 2 of XAT exam which includes Essay Writing.
Essay Writing Syllabus
In this you can prepare as much essays as you can. There is nothing exact important for your paper it is based on your own knowledge.
