UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) conducts various competitive examination for government jobs in different filed. UPSC conducts exam for various services such as Civil, Engineering, Combined Defence Services Examination, Naval Academy, and Combined Medical Services Examination.

The UPSC Examination contains two successive phases.

  • Civil Services Preliminary Examination (Objective type)
  • Civil Services Main Examination (Written and Interview)

UPSC Paper Format & Structure

Preliminary Examination:

  II 2 hours 200


  • In Preliminary Examination both paper will consist of Objective (multiple choice answer) Type questions.
  • The question papers can solve both in Hindi and English language.

Main Examination:

   III Essay 3 hours 200

   VII Optional Subject 2 3 hours 300
     Total 2000

In main Examination contains two papers:

  • General Studies (150 marks)
  • Some optional subject (300 marks)

  • History of India including Indian National Movement
  • Indian and World Geography
  • Current Affairs of National and International Importance
  • General and day-to-day Science
  • Mental Ability and Basics of Statistics etc
